“She gifted me a long life & i gifted her the memories”

In India, the ritual of marriage is considered to be the ultimate ritual of life. Here tying knots means promising a companionship of seven lives. In a country with intricate rituals and customs, it is believed that there is nothing more pious and stronger than the relationship of marriage. Married women is said to be the companion of their better halves in all the hay as well as bad days. In a country like India where marriage is far beyond worldly affairs, the institution of marriage is strengthened through several means. One of them is the festival of Karva Chauth. Karva Chauth is a very difficult fast. A woman has to spend an entire day without any food or single drop of water till the moon rise. It is said that this pain taken by a wife helps her husband get a token of blessings by the almighty.

So this Karva Chauth, I decided to do something out of the box by giving my wife a surprise and holding my own butterflies and that was capturing her moments while she does Karva Pooja. Since my childhood, i have been seeing my mother and sisters going for pooja without their husbands and everytime i used to think, why don’t husbands accompany their wives? Every woman has a dream that her husband should take an off and stay with them for a whole day to make them feel special, so I did this time.

She was looking gorgeous while she was getting ready for the pooja and as i told her that i will also be accompanying her for the pooja and wants to click her special moments, i could see a BIG smile on her face and she was almost on cloud 9. T, I still remember the moment here was a different feeling when i holded her hand and as we entered the assembly area, I saw at least 50 women standing in front of me with their best attire and looking at my machine as if I am going to kill someone today. For that moment I was freezing feet, but this didn’t scare me, but the alarm was still on in my head to explore the moments which I never participated in. I could figure out from the body language of almost every woman, feeling jealous of why I am clicking single woman’s picture, but my heart and my eyes were awestruck on the lady who was wrapped in the lovely saree, bangles in her hands, gajra on her hair, sindoor in her maang and very importantly her coquerty had taken my breath away.

This entire activity made me realize how beautiful and magnificent a woman is or for that matter my wife, whom I have never noticed this deep in love. For sometime I slipped from my motive and was just looking at 60 well dressed women sitting in a circle, revolving their thalis with just one thought of their husband’s long life and I felt so proud that I am lucky enough to have this blessing from my wife who is a part of this ritual. I think we forget or sometimes we shy off to go with them in their Pooja’s time or where they need us the most. This is my advice to all the lucky husbands that next time accompany her and you feel this moment is much bigger than the moon moment. Make her also feel “special”

Note: Dear wife,

Thank you for this inexpressible feeling, here comes your gift, because you deserve it.
