An email to your photographer inquiring where your images are and when you’ll get to view them is a frequent query that follows the wedding day. When a photographer attends your wedding and photographs your day, they are only beginning the work you have hired them to do; capturing images is only a small portion of what they do, and as a result, you will have to wait for your photos and let us explain why.
Why do the pictures take so long?
The main reason behind this is post-production work. Of course, the anticipation of viewing your lovely wedding images makes you antsy and makes you wonder what we’re waiting for. Wedding photographers, in fact, spend more time editing images than they do taking them! In short, you’re hoping for your photographer to look through hundreds, if not thousands, of images, binning and deleting those test shots. Then there’s the editing, which includes cropping images, altering color balance, and generating the overall look you paid for. After the images are taken, there is still a lot of work to be done. Telling your wedding story and highlighting your special moments take time.
